Duck Dynasty alumni Mary Kate and John Luke Robertson are set to expand their family – and they honestly express how surprised they are by this joyous news.
“We’re absolutely overjoyed to announce that we are adding TWINS to our family come early next year!!! This is the most delightful, unexpected blessing we could ever imagine ha! Two new little Robertson girls!🩷🩷,” Mary Kate shared on Instagram on Friday, October 3, to announce her pregnancy.
The couple already has three children: John, 6, Ella, 4, and Wells, 2.
In a discussion with This Redeemed Life in February 2017, Mary Kate revealed that she and John Luke, 29, first crossed paths at a Christian summer camp in Louisiana.
“My girl’s cabin matched with his guys’ cabin for the week, and one of the first chats we had was during our wall-sit competition when our team chose us to represent them,” she recounted to the outlet at that time. “We conversed during that challenge to distract ourselves from the discomfort. I distinctly remember asking him about his siblings, not realizing they would become my future family!”
They reconnected when Mary Kate and her sister joined the same high school that John Luke attended.
“At the time, he traveled frequently due to their family’s reality TV show, but whenever he returned, he always had entertaining stories to share with me,” she stated. “For about a year and a half, we were really close friends, thanks to our small school, shared friends, and being on the same tennis team.”
Their relationship officially started in March 2014, and they got engaged just seven months later.

Mary Kate and John Luke celebrated the arrival of Ella on Instagram in April 2021. “Welcome to the world baby Ella!” John Luke wrote on the platform. “You are sooo adorable!! It’s nice to have a kid who looks like me.”
Earlier, they had announced Mary Kate’s pregnancy in November 2020.
The couple welcomed their oldest son, Shep, in October 2019. “Hi baby John Shepherd!!” Mary Kate captioned an Instagram post featuring their son. “He decided to surprise us 10 days early on October 14, 2019, and we are absolutely in loveeeee.”
John Luke shared the news about Shep’s upcoming arrival in May 2019.
“Yep, that’s a baby,” the former reality star wrote alongside a photo on Instagram, showcasing a sonogram while Mary Kate held her growing baby bump.
Mary Kate expressed her gratitude in an Instagram post, stating, “I just wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who have congratulated us and left such kind comments regarding our upcoming addition! We truly feel the love, and it’s been wonderful seeing everyone share in the excitement for this little one! We can’t wait to welcome him into our lives this October, and I’m incredibly thankful to the Lord for this amazing blessing. Anticipating our sweet baby boy in October!!!”
Fans were introduced to John Luke through the acclaimed A&E series Duck Dynasty, which featured brothers Phil and Si Robertson, along with Phil’s sons Jase, Willie, and Jep. John Luke is Willie’s son.
The series ran on the network from 2012 to 2017, documenting the family’s experiences as they managed their duck hunting supply business, Duck Commander. A&E has announced a revival of the series set for 2025.
