At the 10th Crunchyroll Anime Awards held in Tokyo on Saturday, May 23, “My Hero Academia Final Season” was awarded Anime of the Year.

Returning as hosts for the fourth consecutive year, Sally Amaki and Jon Kabira led the event. The Weeknd was among the guest presenters, announcing the winner of the anime of the year category. Other presenters included actor Asuka Saito, K-pop artist BamBam, cosplayer Enako, actor Kasumi Arimura, the comedic duo Mitorizu, actor Nanase Nishino, Brazilian esports and gaming host Nyvi Estephan, pan-India star Rashmika Mandanna, RZA from Wu-Tang Clan, K-pop singer and dancer TEN, actor Winston Duke, and recording artist Young Miko.

The night opened with a performance by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, arranged by Kazunori Miyake and conducted by Hirofumi Kurita. Other performers included Dean Fujioka, Yoko Takahashi, Pornograffitti, and Asian Kung-Fu Generation.

The Global Impact Award was presented to director Tatsuya Nagamine for his contributions to projects like “Ojamajo Doremi,” “PreCure,” “Dragon Ball Super,” and “One Piece.” Animator Masayuki Sato, known for his work on “Happiness Charge PreCure!” and “One Piece,” accepted the award on Nagamine’s behalf.

Crunchyroll reported that a record-breaking 73 million votes were cast by fans worldwide for this year’s Anime Awards. The countries with the highest engagement were Brazil, Germany, India, Mexico, and the United States.

The 10th Crunchyroll Anime Awards will soon be available for streaming on Crunchyroll, as well as on Crunchyroll’s YouTube Channel, Sony Group Corp Global, and Japan YouTube channels.
