BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

A PROCLAMATION

During this National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, our Nation comes together to pay tribute to the courageous volunteer and career firefighters who have given their lives in the line of duty. This year, we especially remember those we have lost over the past year, whose bravery and dedication to their communities will always be remembered. We honor their legacy with gratitude and acknowledge the lasting impact of their sacrifice on our Nation.

Across America, firefighters stand ready every day to respond when called upon, bravely confronting danger to safeguard lives, homes, and communities. In the face of fires, disasters, and emergencies, they consistently show a steadfast commitment to the safety and well-being of their fellow citizens. Their courage and dedication strengthen our Nation, ensuring our safety and security.

This weekend, we gather with the families, friends, and loved ones of our fallen fire heroes — many of whom are on the picturesque campus of the National Fire Academy at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Park in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Here, they come together to mourn, share cherished memories, and draw strength from the lasting legacies of those they have lost. Their grief is profound, and we commit to ensuring that the names and memories of their loved ones are forever honored in the hearts of our citizens.

Reflecting on the lives of our Nation’s fallen firefighters reminds us that gratitude must be backed by action. It is our solemn duty to provide emergency responders with the training, equipment, and resources they need to perform their duties effectively and return safely to their loved ones. My Administration is unwavering in its commitment to support those who protect us daily. Under my leadership, we will uphold this vital responsibility.

This weekend, as we remember these heroes with deep respect and gratitude, we stand with those who mourn their loss and pledge to carry forward the remarkable spirit of service that these fallen firefighters embodied until their final moments.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim May 2 through May 3, 2026, as National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend. On Sunday, May 3, 2026, in accordance with Public Law 107-51, the flag of the United States will be flown at half-staff at all Federal office buildings in honor of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this thirtieth day of April, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-six, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fiftieth.

                             DONALD J. TRUMP
