Netflix made headlines with the announcement of 10 new productions by top directors and production houses in Brazil. The streaming giant continues to invest heavily in the Brazilian market, recognizing the country as its second-biggest globally. This move comes on the eve of the Rio2C creativity forum, where Netflix will host panels discussing the technological legacy of “Senna” and the power of reality show casting.

Among the new productions, O2 Filmes is working on a high-tech docu-series called “Brazil 70,” focusing on the key moments of Brazilian soccer players during the country’s FIFA World Cup triumph. Gullane, known for “Senna,” is producing a movie spin-off of the popular series “Sintonia,” while director Fernando Coimbra and Gullane partner up for a mini-series inspired by a real-life radioactive accident.

Other highlights include biopics on soccer legends Ronaldinho and Neymar, as well as a fiction chronicle of a notorious crime in Brazil by Boutique Filmes. Netflix has also released a variety of content in 2025, including reality shows, documentaries, and crime thrillers.

The streaming service is pushing the envelope in Brazil through various strategies. They are expanding into new genres, such as wildlife documentaries and horror movies, to offer a diverse range of content to audiences. Additionally, they are investing in Brazilian original reality shows, increasing production values, incorporating cutting-edge technology, and focusing on authentic Brazilian stories to engage local audiences.

The move into real-life inspired action thrillers is another key aspect of Netflix’s strategy in Brazil. With a focus on authenticity and real-life events, they aim to create content that resonates with audiences both locally and globally. The 10 new productions announced showcase a mix of series, reality shows, documentaries, and films, highlighting the diversity and creativity of the Brazilian audiovisual industry.
