Netflix has solidified its presence in the French mass media landscape by teaming up with TF1, a leading TV channel, and Newen Studios to co-finance its very first French daily drama series, “Tout pour la lumière.”

Newen Studios is known for producing popular daily French drama shows such as “Tomorrow is Ours,” “Where it all begins,” and “Life so sweet, even sweeter.” On the other hand, TF1 Group holds the title of being the top commercial channel in France in terms of ratings.

“Tout pour la lumière” is a family saga set in the realm of music and dance. Filming is scheduled to commence in the first half of 2025, with locations including the picturesque town of La Ciotat in Southern France and the studio lot of La Belle de Mai in Marseille.

The series is penned by Coline Assous, Yentl Coubes, and Maxime Cormier, and will be produced by Céline François under the supervision of Stéphanie Brémond, the deputy general director of continuing drama and long-form series at Newen Studios.

As part of the collaboration, “Tout pour la lumiere” will debut on Netflix five days before airing on TF1 and on TF1’s AVOD platform, TF1+.

Pauline Dauvin, VP of content at Netflix France, expressed excitement about offering French subscribers a daily drama series for the first time. She emphasized the partnership’s dedication to innovation and supporting artistic creation.

Pierre Branco, CEO of Newen Studios and former Warner Bros. Discovery executive, described the launch of the ambitious daily series as a thrilling venture, highlighting the company’s expertise in continuing drama and the goal of attracting a new audience.

Ara Aprikian, executive VP of content at TF1 Group, emphasized the partnership’s ability to finance and distribute projects effectively, ensuring a broad audience reach. The collaboration aims to enrich content offerings in both linear and non-linear formats.

Netflix’s foray into daily soap operas aligns with its strategy to establish itself as a prominent media outlet in key markets, focusing on live content and factual entertainment. The streamer recently ventured into the Spanish market with the soap opera “Valle Salvaje,” produced by Bambú Producciones and available in all Spanish-speaking territories.

This new daily drama series marks a significant milestone for Netflix, TF1, and Newen Studios, showcasing their commitment to delivering compelling content and engaging audiences across various platforms.
