Top Spanish Pay TV/SVOD Player Movistar Plus+ Announces Three New Original Series
Movistar Plus+, the leading Spanish pay TV/SVOD platform, has recently unveiled three new scripted series that continue to showcase their talent-driven strategy. This strategy has proven successful, with Movistar Plus+ winning top prizes at prestigious events such as Series Mania and the Cannes Film Festival.
One of the new series in development is from Alauda Ruíz de Azua, the creator of the award-winning show “Querer” which won the Grand Prix at Series Mania. This new series will explore the world of platforms like OnlyFans, delving into contemporary issues surrounding online sexuality and questioning traditional pornography. The project will be produced in collaboration with Kowalski Films and Feelgood Media, the same teams behind “Querer.”
Another new series is being created by Isabel Peña and Eduardo Villanueva, known for their work on Rodrigo Sorogoyen’s hit series “Riot Police.” The series will adapt “El Proxeneta” by Mabel Lozano, focusing on the true story of an ex-prostitution kingpin in Spain. The show will explore the rise of the Spanish mafia, the formation of a special police unit, and the lives of the women involved in the prostitution ring.
The third project announced by Movistar Plus+ is a rural murder mystery titled “Matar a un oso,” based on real events surrounding the death of a bear named Cachou. The series will delve into the conflict between global policies and ancestral interests, featuring a talented cast including María Rodríguez Soto, Pol López, Eduard Fernández, Nora Navas, Àlex Monner, and Pep Ambrós.
These new series showcase Movistar Plus+’s commitment to producing high-quality, compelling content that pushes boundaries and explores complex themes. With a focus on talent-driven storytelling, Movistar Plus+ continues to solidify its position as a top player in the Spanish TV industry.
