Nicole Kidman has been seen publicly for the first time after filing for divorce from her husband of many years, Keith Urban.
The 58-year-old actress was captured enjoying a hike in Nashville on Wednesday, October 1, according to images shared by The Daily Mail. Looking sporty, Kidman donned black leggings, a grey jacket, a matching hat, and oversized shades while spending quality time with her sister, Antonia Kidman.
This sighting comes just two days after Us Weekly reported that Kidman and Urban, 57, had ended their 19-year marriage on Monday, September 29. The day after, she filed for divorce, stating “irreconcilable differences” as the cause for their split, as detailed in papers accessed by Us. The documents revealed plans for child custody and support, along with a required “parenting seminar order.”
The couple, who share two daughters—Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14—came to an arrangement designating Kidman as the children’s primary residential parent. The agreement specifies that the children would spend 306 days of the year with Kidman and 59 days with Urban.
Furthermore, the parenting agreement detailed, “In the rare situation where the parties cannot reach a consensus on significant decisions regarding either child, [Kidman] will have the ultimate decision-making power.”
Following the divorce filing, a source revealed to Us that Kidman was “devastated” by the end of their marriage and had been trying hard to make it work.
“She kept her struggles private from most of her friends and carried this burden for months,” the source disclosed.
A few days prior to the split becoming public, Kidman attended a Clé de Peau Beauté event in Los Angeles on September 25, where she wore a stunning black gown and vibrant red lipstick. At the event, the Lioness star was seen wearing her wedding ring in images captured for the brand’s press release.
<pHaving wed in 2006 after a short courtship, Kidman previously discussed overcoming obstacles in her relationship with Urban during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar marking their 15th anniversary. She emphasized that their marriage has always been anchored in love.
“We continuously work through our differences, and the foundation of our relationship is love, which entails a significant amount of compromise and understanding,” she shared in September 2021. “I want him to lead the best life possible, and he reciprocates that sentiment.”
Urban similarly spoke about how Kidman would address some of his unfavorable behaviors.
“I find negativity and self-doubt creeping into my life, and I have to make an effort to keep them at bay. Fortunately, Nic is brilliant at pointing these things out, and our marriage has reached a point where she doesn’t need to say much,” the musician shared with GQ Australia in July 2012. “I often hear myself rambling about negative thoughts, and her silent presence makes me stop.
The former couple made their last public appearance together at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup match in Nashville between Los Angeles FC and Esperance de Tunis in June.
Before her marriage to Urban, Kidman was previously wed to Tom Cruise from 1990 to 2001. During their marriage, Kidman and Cruise, 63, adopted children Isabella, 32, and Connor, 30.
