Apple Rumored to be Developing AI Wearable Device

According to a recent report by The Information, Apple may be in the process of developing its own AI wearable device. The device is said to be a pin that users can wear on their clothing, equipped with two cameras and three microphones. This potential new product from Apple signals the increasing competition in the AI hardware market, with other companies like OpenAI also making strides in this space.

OpenAI recently announced that they will likely be releasing their first AI hardware device in the second half of this year, possibly a pair of earbuds. This news comes amidst reports detailing Apple’s own AI wearable, described as a thin, flat, circular disc with an aluminum-and-glass shell. The device is rumored to be similar in size to an AirTag, with two cameras, a physical button, a speaker, and a Fitbit-like charging strip on its back.

Reports suggest that Apple is working to accelerate the development of this AI pin in order to compete with OpenAI. The device could potentially be released in 2027, with an estimated 20 million units at launch. However, the success of such a product remains uncertain, as evidenced by the struggles of startup Humane AI, founded by former Apple employees, which also released an AI pin that ultimately failed in the market.

As the race for AI hardware heats up, it will be interesting to see how Apple’s rumored wearable device fares in the competitive market. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
