Orange Culture: A Tribute to Love and Legacy

In a heartfelt and emotional tribute, Orange Culture presented a collection that left everyone in awe. The show began with a moment of silence in remembrance of the founder and creative director Adebayo Oke-Lawal’s late mother, who passed away last year. The collection, titled “Letter to Her,” was a deeply personal homage to one of the most influential figures in Oke-Lawal’s life. “It’s tough seeing your loved ones really vulnerable, and I wanted to celebrate her… and who she has transcended to become,” he shared.

Styled by Olalu Ebiti, this collection marked a new chapter for Orange Culture. Known for its vibrant and contemporary designs since its launch in 2011, Oke-Lawal bid farewell to the old Orange Culture with this showcase. “It’s still Orange Culture in its essence, but it’s taking a path that we’ve never taken before,” he explained.

Breaking away from the brand’s signature colorful palette, every look in the collection was a stunning display of all-white ensembles. Despite the challenge of working with a single color, Oke-Lawal masterfully played with shapes, fabrics, and silhouettes to create a mesmerizing lineup. Standout pieces included a white shirt paired with a pleated cream vest top and exaggerated balloon trousers, as well as a sheer one-shoulder top with feather detailing and an exaggerated rope hem. The only print featured in the collection was a touching tribute to Oke-Lawal’s brother and mother, designed by artist Yasser Claud Enin.

The passion and dedication Oke-Lawal poured into this collection were palpable. Backstage, he was visibly moved, surrounded by guests offering congratulations, embraces, and words of comfort. “Your mother would’ve been so proud,” one guest tearfully expressed. Now, Oke-Lawal plans to take some time to heal before shifting his focus to Berlin, where he will make a return to the Berlin Fashion Week schedule in the coming year.

Orange Culture’s “Letter to Her” collection not only showcased Oke-Lawal’s talent and creativity but also served as a beautiful tribute to love, loss, and legacy. It was a show that touched the hearts of all who witnessed it, leaving a lasting impression on the fashion industry.
