The Boston Celtics, the reigning champions, are gearing up to defend their homecourt against the young Orlando Magic in Game 2 of their first-round series on Wednesday night. Despite some uncertainty surrounding Jayson Tatum’s availability, the Celtics are entering the game as strong favorites.

Game 1 saw the Celtics dominating the Magic with a 103-86 victory, showcasing their ability to control the tempo of the game. Orlando struggled offensively beyond Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, who combined for 59 points. The rest of the Magic team struggled to score efficiently, highlighting their offensive shortcomings.

On the other hand, the Celtics had a more balanced scoring attack, with four players reaching double digits. Derrick White led the way with 30 points, followed by Payton Pritchard with 19. All-Stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown contributed a combined 33 points, although they had their fair share of shooting struggles.

One major concern for the Celtics heading into Game 2 is Tatum’s questionable status due to a right distal radius bone bruise. His absence could create an opportunity for Orlando to exploit Boston’s defense. The Magic, on the other hand, will be without Jalen Suggs and Moritz Wagner for the remainder of the season.

Orlando will need to improve their offensive execution in Game 2, especially with Tatum potentially sidelined. The Magic’s guards, Cory Joseph, Anthony Black, and Cole Anthony, will need to step up and provide more scoring and playmaking for their team.

With Tatum’s availability in question, the Celtics may rely more on veterans like Al Horford and Sixth Man of the Year Payton Pritchard to carry a larger load. Interestingly, Boston has a strong record without Tatum this season, but they have suffered losses to the Magic in those games, highlighting the unpredictability of the matchup.

In terms of predicted lineups, the Magic are expected to start Cory Joseph, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Jr., Franz Wagner, Paolo Banchero, and Wendell Carter Jr. The Celtics are likely to start Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, Jaylen Brown, Al Horford, and Kristaps Porzingis.

When it comes to betting props, consider taking the over on Paolo Banchero scoring more than 26.5 points and Jaylen Brown exceeding 21.5 points. However, the under on Kristaps Porzingis scoring less than 19.5 points and Franz Wagner scoring less than 22.5 points could be safe bets.

In terms of a prediction, despite Orlando’s success against a Tatum-less Celtics squad in the regular season, Boston’s experience and depth should give them the edge in Game 2. Expect a close game, with the Celtics ultimately coming out on top by a margin of 7 points.

Overall, Game 2 of the Orlando Magic vs Boston Celtics series promises to be a competitive and exciting matchup, with both teams looking to gain an advantage in the series.
