Disappointment Among Singers Over Missing Music Performances at Oscars

The missing music performances at the Oscars didn’t just disappoint viewers – many of the singers themselves expressed their frustration.

In mid-February, Diane Warren, who is nominated for The Journey from the film The Six Triple Eight, described the change as “frustrating.”

Warren emphasized the importance of hearing the nominated songs performed live, stating, “Everybody loves to hear the songs. You want to hear these artists sing these songs that were integral to the movies. Music is so important to film, and these songs are very important to the movies they’re in.”

Brandi Carlile, who co-wrote Never Too Late from the documentary Elton John: Never Too Late, shared her sadness with Variety. She expressed her disappointment at potentially missing out on the opportunity to perform at the Oscars again.

Carlile reminisced about her admiration for Elton John and the impact of his Oscar win for The Lion King

The absence of live music performances at the Oscars left a void for both the artists and the audience, highlighting the significance of music in the film industry.
