Katherine Duclos, a Vancouver-based artist, creates stunning compositions using LEGO baseplates as the foundation for her work. By arranging the colorful bricks in intricate patterns and textures, Duclos transforms the traditional toy into elegant and dynamic pieces of art. She adds her own touch with paint, enhancing the vibrancy and movement of her creations.

One of Duclos’ recent exhibitions, titled “Grid Memories,” was held at the ACT Arts Centre in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. The show featured a collection of her new works, including a few pieces made with LEGO bricks. Additionally, her work was showcased at Heron Arts in San Francisco alongside other artists like Alexis Arnold, Gina Borg, and Kim Bennett. The exhibition ran from January 31 to March 5, captivating audiences with its interactive and visually engaging displays.

Duclos is currently gearing up for another exhibition in Sweden scheduled for June, where visitors will have the opportunity to interact with her LEGO pieces. Her work can also be found on her Instagram account, where she regularly shares updates and behind-the-scenes glimpses of her creative process.

Each composition by Duclos is a mesmerizing blend of pastels, gradients, and geometric shapes, as seen in pieces like “Lime in Coconut,” “Invasive Landscaping May Be All We Have,” and “A Natural Set of Events.” The intricate details and playful use of LEGO bricks make her art both visually striking and tactile, inviting viewers to explore and immerse themselves in her colorful world.

Whether it’s “Burning Down the House” or “Sun in the Field,” Duclos’ creations capture the imagination and spark joy with their whimsical charm. Her unique approach to using LEGO bricks as an art medium sets her apart as a visionary artist pushing the boundaries of creativity. Visit her exhibitions or follow her on Instagram to experience the magic of Katherine Duclos’ captivating LEGO art firsthand.
