Paramount Skydance is expanding its executive team by welcoming Josh Silverman as the new president of global products and experiences. Silverman, who previously held significant roles at Mattel, Disney, and Marvel, brings over two decades of experience to this pivotal position.
Silverman is set to join Paramount Skydance on October 6, 2025, and he will be reporting directly to the company’s president, Jeff Shell. This new appointment follows the completion of Skydance Media’s ambitious $8 billion acquisition of Paramount Global in early August.
In his new role, Silverman will take charge of the companyâs consumer products, live experiences, publishing, partnerships, and e-commerce initiatives. Paramount Skydance indicated that he would collaborate with leaders from various brands, including Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon, to enhance storytelling experiences and engage audiences in innovative ways.
The recent appointment comes on the heels of Pam Kaufmanâs departure from her position as President and CEO of international markets, global consumer products, and experiences at Paramount. Silverman will now oversee these critical areas, while Kevin MacLellan, a former NBCUniversal executive, has assumed the role of Paramount Skydanceâs head of international operations.
Prior to his new role at Paramount, Silverman served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Franchise Officer at Mattel, where he was instrumental in managing over 165 consumer product partnerships and retail collaborations for Warner Bros. Picturesâ blockbuster film, âBarbie.â He also spearheaded initiatives, including the World of Barbie traveling exhibit, Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live, and the forthcoming Mattel Adventure Parks.
Silvermanâs extensive career includes significant roles at Marvel Entertainment and Disney. He began his tenure at Marvel in 2001 as a corporate attorney in the business and legal affairs division. He later advanced to Senior Vice President of Global Business Development and Licensing Operations. After Disney acquired Marvel for $4.3 billion in 2009, Silverman worked across various divisions, focusing on global strategic issues and brand management.
In 2011, he transitioned to Disney, where he played a key role as the Executive Vice President of Global Third-Party Commercialization. His responsibilities included overseeing Disney’s consumer products licensing, third-party retail strategies, and the management of Disney Stores, as well as the commercialization of Disney Interactive and Disney Publishing. Silverman’s academic credentials include an undergraduate degree from Ithaca College in New York and a law degree from Brooklyn Law School.
Expressing his enthusiasm for joining Paramount Skydance, Silverman stated, âIâm incredibly energized by the entrepreneurial spirit across Paramount. Thereâs an extraordinary opportunity to unlock new value by leveraging renowned IP and discovering fresh stories and experiences. I am eager to collaborate across teams to deepen the emotional connection between audiences and the beloved brands, franchises, and characters they cherish.â
Jeff Shell, formerly the CEO of NBCUniversal, praised Silverman, stating, âJosh brings a strategic vision, extensive industry experience and a proven track record in driving global growth for cherished brands and franchises. We are excited to see him leverage Paramountâs outstanding library and creative capabilities to engage audiences in fresh and exciting ways, further propelling the growth of our consumer products and experiences divisions.â
Additionally, the company has made other significant appointments recently, including Dane Glasgow as Chief Product Officer, formerly Vice President of Product Management at Meta’s Facebook, and Makan Delrahim as Chief Legal Officer, who advised Skydance during the Paramount Global acquisition and previously served as the Assistant Attorney General overseeing the DOJâs Antitrust Division during President Trump’s tenure.
Moreover, Paramount Skydance, which officially refers to itself as âParamount, a Skydance Corporation,â recently appointed Dennis Cinelli, CFO of Scale AI, to its board of directors.
