Patrick Mahomes, the star quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, suffered an ankle injury during a game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, December 15. The injury occurred in the fourth quarter of the game, leading Mahomes to be replaced by backup quarterback Carson Wentz. Despite attempting to continue playing, Mahomes was ultimately unable to return to the game and was seen limping off the field.

In a post-game interview, Mahomes described how he got hit while throwing the ball and felt someone hit him from behind, causing him to get rolled up on. He acknowledged the pain and stated that he would focus on rehab to be ready for the next game. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed that Mahomes’ right ankle was sore but not broken, and he would be day-to-day as they monitored his progress.

The injury occurred when Mahomes was caught under two Browns players, resulting in a high ankle injury. Although Mahomes expressed a desire to return to the game, the coaching staff decided it was best to let him rest and recover. Mahomes left the game in a cart for further evaluation, without wearing any brace or tape on his injured ankle.

It remains uncertain whether Mahomes will be able to play in the Chiefs’ upcoming games against the Houston Texans and Pittsburgh Steelers. The team will monitor his progress and make a decision based on his recovery timeline. This injury comes after Mahomes was fined for a “violent gesture” during a previous game against the Buffalo Bills, where he pantomimed the use of a shotgun on the field.

Despite these setbacks, Mahomes remains optimistic about the team’s performance and his own ability to bounce back from injuries.
