PBS Distribution has recently acquired the U.S. rights to two compelling projects from All3Media Intl: Wildgaze Films’ love story “Trespasses” and Hera Pictures’ factual drama “I Fought the Law.”

“Trespasses” features a star-studded cast including Lola Petticrew, Tom Cullen, and Gillian Anderson. Set against the backdrop of the Troubles in 1970s Belfast, the show tells a story of forbidden love. The acquisition in the U.S. follows successful deals in Europe and Australia, as well as four nominations at the Irish Film and Television Awards.

The show was commissioned by Channel 4 in the U.K. and is produced by Wildgaze Films, known for their work on acclaimed films like “Brooklyn” and “An Education.” Directed by BAFTA winner Dawn Shadforth and based on Louise Kennedy’s novel, “Trespasses” is adapted for television by Ailbhe Keogan.

On the other hand, “I Fought the Law” stars BAFTA winner Sheridan Smith and tells the real-life story of Ann Ming, a mother who fought against a centuries-old law to seek justice for her daughter’s murderer. Created for ITV by Hera Pictures, the drama is based on Ann Ming’s book “For the Love of Julie” and is written by Jamie Crichton and directed by Erik Richter Strand.

Both shows have garnered attention and acclaim ahead of their anticipated launch this year. Jennifer Askin, exec VP Americas at All3Media Intl., expressed excitement about bringing these powerful female-led stories to U.S. viewers through PBS. She highlighted the exceptional on-screen talent and creative team behind both projects, emphasizing their impact on critics and audiences alike.

With PBS as the platform for these dramas, viewers can expect to be immersed in compelling narratives that showcase the talent and storytelling prowess of the industry. The partnership between All3Media Intl. and PBS continues to bring high-quality content to audiences globally, further solidifying their reputation for delivering top-notch entertainment.
