PetMed Express Inc., the parent company of PetMeds and PetCareRx has announced a strategic partnership with virtual veterinary care provider Dutch to offer affordable and accessible pet healthcare options. Through this collaboration, pet owners can now access Dutch’s technology and veterinary team to obtain prescriptions for PetMeds’ medications.
By signing up for a monthly Dutch membership, pet owners can virtually connect with veterinarians in 34 states for appointments available 24/7. Dutch, in its four years of operation, has completed almost 700,000 visits and provides treatment options for over 150 conditions, including flea and tick medication, allergies, and joint pain treatments.
CEO of PetMeds, Sandra Campos, expressed confidence in Dutch, stating, “Because they’re technologically advanced and have a large team of veterinarians, we felt comfortable partnering with them.”
With the integration of Dutch’s technology into PetMeds’ website, customers can seamlessly access virtual appointments, receive prescriptions, and treatment plans without the need to navigate multiple platforms.
Joe Spector, founder and CEO of Dutch, described the membership model as similar to Costco, where members pay a monthly fee for unlimited access to veterinary care. The partnership between PetMeds and Dutch aims to make pet healthcare more affordable and convenient for customers.
Increasing Demand for Veterinary Telehealth
The partnership between PetMeds and Dutch comes at a time when the demand for veterinary telehealth is on the rise. Dutch’s “2025 State of Veterinary Care Report” revealed that a significant portion of the U.S. population resides in areas with limited access to veterinary care, highlighting the need for accessible pet healthcare options.
Spector estimated that tens of thousands of customers could benefit from the partnership, considering the large population of pets in the U.S. that currently receive inadequate care. The convenience and affordability of telemedicine services like Dutch appeal to pet owners seeking quality care for their furry companions.
With experienced veterinarians in the Dutch network averaging over 15 years of practice, pet owners can trust in the quality of care provided through virtual consultations. The comfort of home environments allows for better assessment of pet behavior and reduces anxiety in animals during consultations.
Future of Pet Telehealth
As telehealth for pets continues to evolve and gain popularity, PetMeds and Dutch aim to offer a comprehensive solution for pet owners. By providing easy access to prescriptions, consultations, and treatment plans, the partnership aims to promote preventive care and ensure the well-being of pets.
Campos emphasized the importance of maintaining pets’ health through regular care and preventive measures to avoid costly treatments for diseases or critical conditions. By offering a one-stop solution for pet healthcare needs, PetMeds and Dutch strive to make pet care more accessible and affordable for all pet owners.
Overall, the collaboration between PetMeds and Dutch represents a significant step towards revolutionizing pet healthcare through telemedicine, providing pet owners with convenient and cost-effective solutions for their furry companions.
