A pipe-wielding assailant, Jeremiah White, accused of attacking two women and a teenage girl in an violent spree across the Bronx, has been ordered held on bail as of Thursday by the same judge who let him go on supervised release just the week prior.

The 23-year-old faces charges including attempted murder for allegedly striking a nurse on her way to work and later assaulting her with a metal pipe early Wednesday morning, as reported by the Bronx District Attorney’s Office.

He also allegedly struck a 15-year-old girl, causing her to bleed “profusely” from her head and assaulted another woman before his capture later that day.

This assailant was previously charged in a series of random assaults against women, facilitated by New York state’s relaxed bail laws.

White had been arrested on October 7 for attacking a woman and was also implicated in a September 12 incident involving a teenage straphanger on the 2 subway line by the 174th Street Station.

Despite the violent history, Judge Deidra Moore allowed his release during an October 8 arraignment, citing the non-bailable nature of his misdemeanor assault charges, and he was placed on supervised release.

At his latest arraignment, bail was set at $200,000 after he faced serious charges including attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.

His violent rampage reportedly began around 5:20 a.m. when he assaulted Virginia Alvarez, a nurse, with a single punch that knocked her to the ground at West 175th Street and University Avenue, according to Assistant District Attorney Vadeanand Nowrang.

As Alvarez attempted to defend herself on the pavement, White allegedly struck her multiple times in the face and then attacked her with a metal pipe, hitting her on the head after she tried to shield herself.

Alvarez sustained multiple fractures and required staples for a head wound due to the attack.

Approximately two hours later, White approached the 15-year-old girl on her way to school in Crotona Park East, brandishing a metal pipe and warning her to “be careful.”

He violently struck her skull with the pipe, leaving her badly injured and in need of stitches after suffering a concussion, according to the prosecutor’s statements.

Additionally, White is accused of punching a 54-year-old woman “square in the face” outside of a Claremont apartment complex around 10 a.m. before being apprehended soon after.

Nowrang asserted that the pattern of these attacks demonstrates a clear intent to target female victims in public spaces, thereby creating an atmosphere of fear for women in the Bronx area.

White’s next court appearance is scheduled for October 20 at 10 a.m.
