To engage in Pat Perry‘s latest photographic venture, prepare to explore your surroundings with friends in search of hidden gems. The Detroit-based artist has introduced “Liminal Bingo,” a collaborative photo challenge aimed at individuals aged 5 to 105, regardless of the excitement level of their locale.
This project is accessible to anyone with internet access and operates on a simple concept: take a camera (phones are acceptable, though Perry recommends film when possible) and photograph his illustrated prompts. Achieve five in a row, and you’ve scored a bingo!

The process demands more than just taking photos; participants need to engage with others and explore their communities. Tasks include capturing a handshake with a stranger while both wear sunglasses and sending a landscape photo to someone you miss, along with a screenshot of the shared moment. Once you’ve gathered five photos, share them on Instagram or email them to Perry.
Photos submitted by August may be featured in a fall exhibition at Hashimoto Contemporary in New York and considered for a potential book. For further details and FAQs, visit the project’s website.
