Cops Engage in Shootout With Suspect
Suspect Killed, Officer Injured

Police in Texas engaged in a dramatic shootout with a gunman that resulted in the suspect’s death and an officer being wounded. The intense confrontation was captured on body cam footage recently released by the El Paso Police Department.
The incident occurred on June 1 when two officers responded to a domestic violence call in a suburb of El Paso. The footage shows the officers approaching a house with their guns drawn, instructing the suspect, Salvador Valdiviezo, to show his hands.
Instead of complying, Valdiviezo, armed with a pistol, opened fire on the officers from behind a pickup truck in the driveway. A gunfight ensued, with Valdiviezo eventually running into the street before returning to the driveway.
During the exchange of gunfire, the female officer was shot in the leg and called out that she had been hit. Her partner acted swiftly, firing at Valdiviezo until he was incapacitated on the ground. Valdiviezo was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is conducting an investigation into the shooting to determine whether the officers followed proper protocols during the intense confrontation.
