Presidential Message on National Child Abuse Prevention Month – The White House

As part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, we reaffirm our commitment to nurturing children with immense love, care, and protection, aiming to eliminate all forms of child abuse nationwide.

The strength and stability of our nation rest on strong American families. Providing a safe and nurturing home is essential to prevent neglect and abuse, allowing each child to grow and pursue their unique American Dream. Consequently, I remain dedicated to implementing policies that bolster parental support, strengthen family bonds, and safeguard children from harm.

Under the previous administration, a significant number of unaccompanied children entering the country went missing, with many falling into the hands of smugglers and traffickers. However, under my leadership, we have renewed our efforts to protect these children and bring those who threaten their safety to justice. As of January, one year after resuming my role as the 47th President of the United States, my Administration has successfully located over 60,000 migrant children, most of whom disappeared during Joe Biden’s tenure, ensuring their safety. We will persist in our efforts to find these missing children and eradicate human trafficking.

Child abuse has unfortunately become prevalent online as well. In response, last year, I signed the TAKE IT DOWN Act, a significant piece of legislation championed by First Lady Melania Trump, to protect children from harmful online content and criminalize the distribution of non-consensual intimate images. Additionally, we are encouraging the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) through the Presidential AI Challenge to foster innovation while ensuring child safety.

During this National Child Abuse Prevention Month, we extend our heartfelt support to every child who has suffered abuse. We remain steadfast in our duty to protect the most vulnerable by upholding law and order, removing violent criminals from our streets, and dismantling human trafficking networks. Those who intend to harm our children will face swift justice under the full force of American law. Above all, we strive for a future where every child is cherished as a divine blessing.
