Renewed Commitment to Combat Human Trafficking

This National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, my Administration reaffirms its steadfast dedication to eradicating the scourge of human trafficking. We are committed to restoring law and order in our nation, safeguarding our most vulnerable citizens, and ensuring that every trafficker is held accountable under the full weight of American law.

A Call to Action: Addressing Past Failures

Under the prior administration, a staggering number of unaccompanied minors who entered our borders were effectively lost. Tragically, many found themselves at the mercy of smugglers and sex traffickers. This was not merely a policy failure; it was a profound moral disaster that allowed the perpetrators of modern slavery to exploit our nation’s vulnerabilities. Since my return to office, I have initiated unprecedented measures to dismantle these trafficking operations, rescue innocent children, and reverse the reckless policies that contributed to this crisis.

Decisive Measures Taken from Day One

On my very first day in office, I declared a national emergency at our southern border to confront the influx of illegal immigration and sever the human trafficking routes that have ravaged countless families. I designated the criminal cartels—our primary trafficking adversaries—as Foreign Terrorist Organizations and launched the largest mass deportation initiative in American history.

Legislative Actions and New Initiatives

Last summer, I enacted the One Big Beautiful Bill, a transformative piece of legislation that significantly enhances the capabilities of the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This law secures historic funding for our Border Patrol and greenlights the construction of hundreds of miles of new border wall. My Administration also established a fund for survivors of sex trafficking exploited through online platforms, enabling them to seek compensation from forfeited assets. We have targeted over 100 online fraud operators, many of whom employed forced labor to defraud billions from individuals in the U.S. and abroad. Additionally, we have bolstered funding for the National Human Trafficking Hotline and signed into law the TAKE IT DOWN Act and the Trafficking Survivors Relief Act, modernizing our tools in the battle against human trafficking and empowering survivors to rebuild their lives. With these enhanced resources, our dedicated law enforcement personnel are now equipped to remove dangerous illegal aliens from our streets and dismantle human trafficking networks.

Positive Outcomes and Ongoing Efforts

Thanks to these decisive actions, our borders are more secure, and the tide of illegal immigration has notably receded. For seven consecutive months, Border Patrol has not released any illegal aliens into our country. ICE has also launched the Unaccompanied Children Safety Verification Initiative, collaborating with local law enforcement to ensure the safety and well-being of the unaccompanied minors abandoned by the previous administration, ensuring they are not falling prey to traffickers.

A Vision for the Future

This month, we continue our unwavering commitment to securing a future where American families can live in safety and freedom, free from the threat posed by criminal aliens who should not be in our country. We are actively dismantling human trafficking rings, fortifying our borders, and deporting dangerous criminals to protect our communities and our great nation.
