The tragic case of Rebecca Park, a pregnant woman whose life was brutally taken, has shocked the nation. Court documents reveal that her own mother, Cortney Bartholomew, confessed to the heinous act of cutting her daughter’s unborn baby out of her womb. What’s even more disturbing is that Cortney claimed the child’s father was none other than her own husband, Rebecca’s stepfather.
Rebecca Park’s body was discovered in the Manistee National Forest in Michigan on November 25. She had disappeared on November 3, when she was 38 weeks pregnant.
Prosecutors in Wexford County allege that Cortney Bartholomew and her husband Bradly Bartholomew dragged Rebecca to the woods, where they stabbed her and removed the baby from her womb.
Despite initially denying any part in the murder, Cortney later confessed to police that she performed the act while Bradly held a knife to Rebecca’s throat. The documents state that Rebecca was conscious during the horrifying ordeal.
Following the removal of the baby, Bradly allegedly slit Rebecca’s throat. Cortney then attempted to tie off the baby’s umbilical cord.
Cortney also admitted to police that Bradly had impregnated Rebecca and was the father of the baby. Tragically, the baby did not survive and was placed in a garbage tote near the couple’s residence.
The Bartholomews are now facing a slew of charges, including first-degree premeditated murder, felony murder, torture, assault on a pregnant woman, conspiracy, unlawful imprisonment, and moving a dead body.
