Richard Sherman Arrest Scene

The newly surfaced police footage TMZ Sports obtained reveals that Richard Sherman displayed signs of agitation during his arrest last year.

This footage, recorded by a Washington State Patrol squad car camera on February 24, 2024, occurred after Sherman was reportedly seen speeding and swerving while driving his Tesla along a roadway in Maple Valley, Wash.

Richard Sherman Encounter with Police

The video shows multiple officers arriving after Sherman had been pulled over, where he reportedly admitted to consuming “two margaritas” prior to driving.

One of the officers is heard saying to another, “Did you see who it was? It’s Richard Sherman from the Seahawks. You can take it.”

Sherman underwent multiple field sobriety tests away from the officer’s dashboard camera.

The former Seattle Seahawks cornerback was eventually taken back to the squad car in handcuffs, visibly frustrated. He was heard accusing one of the officers of improperly gripping him and expressed his displeasure multiple times.

Sherman was then placed in the back of the police car, where he appeared to fall asleep.

Richard Sherman Police Interaction

The police reported that Sherman refused a breathalyzer test. Prosecutors later claimed that blood test results indicated he had a BAC of .11, slightly over the legal limit of .08.

As a result of the incident, Sherman faced a DUI charge, although he recently received deferred prosecution.

Sherman was required to acknowledge that his actions that night stemmed from a substance use disorder and agreed to undertake two years of treatment.

Richard Sherman Legal Matters

Sherman also conceded that the police report against him contains enough evidence to support a guilty verdict.

He is currently on a five-year probationary period, during which he must maintain good behavior or face repercussions related to the charge.

Notably, despite these legal challenges, Sherman has retained his position as an analyst for Prime Video’s “Thursday Night Football” this season.
