A shocking incident unfolded earlier this week outside a South Loop restaurant, where a verbal altercation escalated into violence resulting in a shooting. The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Shaquita Brown from Rogers Park, now faces felony charges for aggravated battery by discharging a firearm.

The shooting took place at approximately 1:25 p.m. on Tuesday outside a Wingstop restaurant located at 500 West Roosevelt Road. Police officers in the vicinity responded swiftly to the sound of gunshots and discovered a young woman injured at the scene. Reports indicate that the victim, aged between 20 and 25 years old, was engaged in a heated argument with another woman, believed to be Brown, before the situation took a dangerous turn.

According to witnesses, Brown allegedly brandished a gun during the altercation and fired shots that struck the victim in her right knee and right calf. Quick-thinking officers applied a tourniquet to stem the bleeding before the victim was rushed to Stroger Hospital, where she is currently in fair condition.

Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene in a black Toyota SUV, with the vehicle last spotted heading north on Canal Street. Chicago police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend Brown and bring her to justice for her alleged involvement in the violent incident.

As the investigation unfolds, additional details are expected to emerge during Brown’s upcoming detention hearing on Friday afternoon. The community awaits further information on the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the motive behind the altercation that led to such a dangerous outcome.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the prevalence of gun violence in our communities and the need for measures to address and prevent such tragedies from occurring. Public safety remains a top priority, and authorities continue their efforts to ensure the well-being and security of residents in the face of escalating violence.
