The Royal Television Society (RTS) has officially opened the entries for the prestigious RTS Craft & Design Awards 2025. The deadline for submissions is set for September 5th. Emma Gormley, the Managing Director of Daytime at ITV Studios, will be returning as the Chair of the Awards. The winners will be announced at a grand ceremony scheduled for December 8th at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
There are a total of 29 competitive categories open for entries for the 2025 Awards. These categories encompass a wide range of crafts and skills within the television industry, including lighting, multicamera work, costume design, and production management. In addition, the RTS will also present the RTS Special Award and the Outstanding Contribution Award at their discretion.
Last year, The TV Collective, The Film and TV Charity, and TV Mindset were honored with the Special Award, while Peter Kosminsky received the Outstanding Contribution Award. These awards serve to highlight the diverse talents and expertise involved in television programming in the UK.
Emma Gormley emphasized the importance of celebrating the exceptional skills displayed by the creative individuals behind the best television programs in the UK. She expressed her anticipation to see how this year’s submissions have evolved in alignment with new trends and techniques across various skill sets within the industry.
The RTS places a strong emphasis on encouraging submissions that reflect diversity within both the industry and broader society. Judges will take into consideration production differences, such as budgets and timeframes, when evaluating submissions. All entries must have been first delivered in the UK, whether through broadcast or online streaming, between September 1, 2024, and August 31, 2025.
The Craft & Design Awards feature a comprehensive list of categories, including Casting Award, Design, Make Up Design, Costume Design, Production Design, Effects, Picture Enhancement, Director, Photography, Lighting and Multicamera, Sound, Editing, Music Original Score, and Production Management Award. Additionally, the RTS will present Awards at their discretion, such as the RTS Special Award and the Outstanding Contribution Award, recognizing exceptional contributions to television craft and design within the industry.
