Regional Transportation District officials are encouraging the use of public transportation as a safe and convenient option for reaching downtown Denver and attending the playoff game between the Denver Broncos and the Buffalo Bills on Saturday. Extra train cars will be added to accommodate the expected increase in ridership, with a focus on existing bus routes as well.
The RTD Transit Police will be actively present across the system, particularly at bus stops and rail stations near Empower Field at Mile High and Ball Arena, where the Denver Nuggets will be playing against the Washington Wizards on the same day.
To assist fans attending the games and other downtown events, additional rail cars will be added to the E, W, and N lines. Riders are advised to use the online app or the RTD website to find transit options from their current location to the stadium.
Patience is encouraged, especially after the games, as large crowds are expected. Final trains from various stations will run until after midnight, with the latest departure being at 2:01 a.m. from Empower Field.
Directors at a recent board meeting instructed RTD staff to provide public transit services to the stadium and downtown from multiple locations around metro Denver, aiming to boost overall ridership by focusing on special events like sports games.
While the BroncosRide gameday bus service has not been reinstated, public transit advocates have urged RTD to reconsider. Bus routes near Empower Field and Ball Arena, as well as train options to Union Station, are highlighted for easy access to the games.
Bus Options:
Several bus routes operate near both stadiums, including Routes 30, 31, 1, 15L, and 16.
For those connecting to the E or W rail lines at Union Station, the Flatiron Flyer and Routes 0, 9, 10, 15, 20, and 32 are recommended.
Train Options:
Trains on the E and W lines serve Empower Field and Ball Arena stations, while the A, B, G, and N lines provide service to Union Station.
