Giuliani Accuses Comey of Dangerous Escalation

Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York and a notable attorney for Donald Trump, has raised concerns about what he describes as a “dangerous escalation” stemming from former FBI Director James Comey.

Giuliani’s alarm comes after Comey shared a cryptic post on social media, which many have interpreted as a veiled suggestion of a threat against President Trump, the 47th president. This incident has sparked questions regarding the influence of Comey’s family within the Department of Justice (DOJ), particularly under Attorney General Pam Bondi.

On Thursday, Comey posted an Instagram photo that has since been deleted, showcasing a “shell formation” on a beach spelling out “86 47.”

The post was quickly scrutinized by various figures, including high-ranking officials from the Trump administration, who perceived it as a direct threat against Trump.

In response to the uproar, the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Secret Service initiated a swift investigation. Secretary Kristi Noem stated that the post was regarded as a “direct threat” to the President’s safety.

Comey promptly deleted the post and insisted that there was no malicious intent behind his actions.

Giuliani, a staunch defender of Trump, did not shy away from voicing his concerns about the implications of Comey’s behavior.

“James Comey posted a message calling for the [assassination] of the 47th president,” Giuliani stated. “This raises serious concerns about his daughter and son-in-law, both employed under Pam Bondi at the DOJ,” he continued.

Giuliani specifically referenced Comey’s daughter, Maurene Comey, who is an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York (SDNY), along with her husband, Lucas Issacharoff, also an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the same district, as potential issues of concern.

Interestingly, reported that Maurene Comey has recently joined the DOJ’s efforts against P. Diddy, after previously being involved in the prosecution of high-profile figures like Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

As noted by Newsweek:

Maurene Comey, an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York (SDNY), is one of the lead prosecutors in the criminal case against Maxwell and had been slated for a similar role in the case of the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein prior to his death in August 2019.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Comey leads the SDNY’s Violent and Organized Crime Unit and has been with the office since 2015, according to her LinkedIn profile.

The Harvard Law School graduate, now 32, has been involved in several high-profile cases, including that of former gynecologist Robert Hadden, who allegedly assaulted as many as 70 women during medical appointments.

The social media landscape has erupted with reactions, with many supporters of Trump echoing Giuliani’s unease.

Why does James Comey’s daughter still work for the DOJ?

Why hasn’t Blondi fired her?

While you’re at it, why don’t you remind @PamBondi/@AGPamBondi to relieve the criminal & leaker’s daughter from her post at the @SDNYnews? She was literally in court today, and likely will be tomorrow, holding herself out as the attorney on behalf of the United States of America.… pic.twitter.com/XOECWXMDvX

REMINDER: Maureen Comey, the daughter of former FBI Director James Comey, was a prosecutor on the Epstein case and is now a prosecutor in the Diddy case.

Hey @AGPamBondi: I just found yet another reason to fire Maureen Comey who works at the SDNY https://t.co/5EDV6JF3Rg
