Salesforce Research: Across the C-suite, trust is the key to scaling agentic AI

The year 2025 brought about a wave of transformative change in the business world, particularly in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI). Salesforce, a leading player in the tech industry, conducted extensive research among C-suite executives to gauge the adoption and impact of agentic AI strategies. The findings revealed a significant uptick in the adoption of AI agents, with a projected surge of 327% over the next two years.

However, amidst the excitement surrounding the rapid deployment of AI agents, a crucial factor emerged as the linchpin for unlocking real value: trust. Trust in data, systems, employees, and leadership was identified as the vital ingredient that determines the success of scaling AI agents and realizing their full potential.

At Salesforce, the importance of trust is ingrained in their operational framework through the Agentforce initiative. The Agentforce 360 Platform, the cornerstone of Salesforce’s agentic platform, infuses trust into the very fabric of how AI agents interact, make decisions, and collaborate with humans. This strategic focus on trust enables leaders to effectively implement agentic AI at scale.

Joe Inzerillo, Chief Digital Officer at Salesforce, emphasizes the pivotal role of trust in accelerating the adoption and impact of AI agents. He asserts, “Trust becomes the accelerator as organizations scale AI agents. When leaders have confidence in their data, systems, and governance, AI transitions from an experimental phase to a driver of enterprise-wide transformation.”

The research conducted by Salesforce highlighted three key pillars of trust – data quality, security, and employee adoption – that underpin the successful integration of AI agents into the workplace. CIOs, CFOs, and CHROs echoed a common sentiment regarding the critical role of trust in realizing the potential of agentic AI.

For CIOs, the seamless integration of AI into everyday workflows and the assurance of trusted data governance were identified as pivotal factors in driving successful AI adoption. Salesforce CIO, Daniel Shmitt, underscores the importance of embedding AI into the flow of work to enhance efficiency and confidence among employees.

CFOs, on the other hand, are increasingly embracing agentic AI as a strategic imperative. While budget allocations for AI initiatives have surged, concerns around security and privacy threats remain a key consideration for CFOs. Robin Washington, President and CFO at Salesforce, emphasizes the transformative impact of AI agents on the finance function, urging a shift towards a more strategic and forward-thinking approach.

CHROs are tasked with fostering trust among employees and ensuring a smooth transition to a workforce augmented by AI agents. The focus on reskilling and upskilling employees to adapt to the digital labor revolution is paramount for CHROs. Nathalie Scardino, Chief People Officer at Salesforce, emphasizes the need for organizational resilience and the redesigning of jobs to align with the evolving landscape of work.

The Agentforce 360 Platform by Salesforce encapsulates these principles of trust by embedding data security, accuracy, and employee adoption into its architecture. The platform’s Einstein Trust Layer ensures real-time grounding of data, while facilitating seamless collaboration between humans and AI agents.

Inzerillo reiterates the significance of trust in driving the success of agentic AI initiatives. He underscores the role of a trusted AI foundation in enabling companies to scale AI responsibly and derive tangible business value. The Salesforce trusted AI foundation, with its focus on accuracy, explainability, and security, provides a robust framework for businesses to navigate the complexities of AI adoption.

As the business landscape continues to evolve, the emphasis on trust as the bedrock of AI innovation remains unwavering. Salesforce’s commitment to building trust with stakeholders and leveraging platforms like the Agentforce 360 Platform underscores their dedication to driving meaningful impact through agentic AI solutions. Trust, as the ultimate accelerator of transformation, propels businesses towards a future where human ingenuity and AI capabilities converge seamlessly.
