In summary
- Samsung has announced invitations for the Galaxy Event on October 22
- Launch of Project Moohan is anticipated
- First Android XR device expected to debut
Samsung has begun sending invitations for a new Galaxy Event, which is expected to focus heavily on augmented reality and mixed reality technologies.
The invitation details an event to be live-streamed via Samsungās Newsroom and YouTube on October 21 at 10pm ET.
This translates to a rather inconvenient 3am in the UK on October 22, so set your alarms. Alternatively, you can return here later for a complete recap.
What to expect
This event will differ from the smartphone-centric Unpacked events that introduced devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Samsung Galaxy S25, focusing instead on āextended reality.ā
Samsung is heralding āA New Era of Multimodal AI,ā which will feature a novel range of AI-driven wearable products.
This event will unveil more details about the collaborative Android XR project involving Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm.

Samsung
Essentially, Samsung will provide the AR headset (named Project Moohan) compatible with Googleās upcoming Android XR mixed reality platform, powered by Qualcommās Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip.
Samsung has showcased this device at various tech events recently, including last monthās Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit. Unfortunately, there have been no practical demonstrations as it has remained encased in a display case.
We are eager to find out the pricing for Project Moohan, with speculation suggesting it could be between £1,324 and £2,100, indicating it may not appeal to budget-conscious consumers.
What not to expect
To be clear, itās highly improbable that any significant new Galaxy devices will be announced during this event. The absence of Unpacked branding on the invitation suggests as much, coupled with the timing.
The anticipated Samsung Galaxy S26 likely wonāt debut until January, and as mentioned earlier, Samsungās foldable devices have already been released several months ago. Samsung also recently unveiled its Galaxy Tab S11 lineup, so donāt expect any new tablet announcements.
There is a possibility we may catch a glimpse of the Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold, yet we arenāt expecting much.
This event will primarily focus on the next major initiative to penetrate the AR/mixed reality space, this time integrating AI as a core element.
