Imagine the uproar if a Democratic president had escaped the country during a government shutdown; the media would be in a frenzy, unleashing a barrage of relentless critiques.
Yet, in this scenario, the mainstream media has shifted focus, directing blame away from Trump and his party—who control both houses of Congress—and onto Democrats.
It is not the Democrats who have abandoned the House of Representatives; that distinction belongs to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson.
Democrats, unlike Trump, haven’t fled the nation during this governmental impasse.
Instead, Republicans are steadfastly refusing to negotiate a resolution to the shutdown.
Members of Congress from the Republican side are not only neglecting their duties; in the case of the House, they are quite literally absent from their jobs. Yet, astonishingly, the mainstream media seems fixated on placing blame squarely on the Democrats.

As funding for food stamps is projected to run out soon, this predicament has arisen because Democrats have not consented to fund the government without the Republicans conceding to significant alterations in health care policy.
