The agreement was made in July 2024 but has yet to receive approval from the FCC, led by Brendan Carr, an ally of former President Trump. Additionally, Redstone is facing a lawsuit filed by President Trump against CBS News over a “60 Minutes” interview with Kamala Harris.
The news of Redstone’s cancer diagnosis adds another layer of difficulty to the already intricate situation she is managing. According to a report by The New York Times, Redstone sought medical advice two months ago due to symptoms like fatigue. She underwent surgery to remove her thyroid gland, but cancer cells had also spread to her vocal cords, requiring ongoing radiation treatment.
Redstone confided in David Ellison, the head of Skydance, as well as close family members and friends about her diagnosis. If the Paramount-Skydance deal successfully goes through, Redstone will step down from the merged company’s board.
