Two Chicago residents have been charged with felony retail theft after allegedly stealing over $2,200 in merchandise from a Lululemon store in the West Loop. The incident reportedly occurred before their vehicle crashed on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office stated that the theft took place at 10:25 a.m. on June 3 at the Lululemon store located at 932 West Randolph Street.

Investigators reported that a man and woman entered the store, with the man retrieving a tote bag from his pants. They then filled the bag with goods and exited without paying, fleeing in a white Volkswagen Tiguan. Lululemon staff contacted the Sheriff’s Police Organized Retail Crime Unit, providing vehicle details, including the license plate.

Authorities located the Volkswagen and trailed it onto the Dan Ryan Expressway. The driver allegedly increased speed and drove erratically, resulting in a collision with a box truck. At the crash scene, sheriff’s police offered medical help, which was declined, and subsequently detained the individuals.

The suspects were identified as 46-year-old Phillip Todd and 30-year-old Jazmine Nooner. The sheriff’s office confirmed the recovery of the stolen Lululemon items from the crashed vehicle. Both Todd and Nooner face felony retail theft charges and have been released pending trial.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings.
Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
