Sia‘s estranged spouse, Dan Bernard, has petitioned the court to grant him over $250,000 monthly in spousal support.
Us Weekly has received court filings indicating that Bernard is seeking $250,856 each month from Sia (whose full name is Sia Kate Isobelle Furler), along with additional coverage for legal fees. (TMZ first reported this development.)
Bernard has also urged his estranged wife to provide at least $300,000 to help cover his attorneyâs fees, plus another $200,000 to fund a forensic accounting investigation.
The documents reveal that Bernard has been unemployed since April 1, following a letter from Siaâs business, informing him of the termination of funding for their shared enterprise, Modern Medicine.
Since then, he noted he had been relying on âmonthly contributions from Sia through stipulated ordersâ that concluded on October 1.
âI currently have no income, no substantial property, no retirement savings, and minimal funds in my bank account. I am unable to continue this litigation without significant financial assistance from Sia for my legal and forensic accounting fees,â he stated. âGiven Sia’s financial capacity, I request the Court to intervene and mandate her to contribute at least $300,000 towards my attorney’s fees and $200,000 for forensic accounting costs.â
Us Weekly has reached out to Sia for a statement.
Sia, aged 49, attributed ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for her split when she filed for divorce in March after two years of marriage. The couple shares an 18-month-old child named Somersault Wonder; Sia also has two adopted sons from her earlier years.
The singer of “Cheap Thrills” requested both legal and physical custody of their child in March but indicated she was amenable to visitation rights for Bernard. She specifically sought to end any spousal support obligation towards her estranged husband.

Sia and Bernard tied the knot in May 2023 at the opulent villa of fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana in Portofino, Italy. Despite their extravagant wedding, the couple mostly maintained their privacy, with the news of their child only surfacing after Sia filed for divorce.
The nine-time Grammy nominee was later seen with Too Hot to Handle and Perfect Match star Harry Jowsey after dining at Ca Del Sole in Los Angeles in July. A source exclusively shared with Us that, while there was speculation surrounding their relationship, Sia and Jowsey, 28, are âjust friends.â
â[They] connected over their Australian backgrounds and are supporting each other as friends,â an insider said.
Us reported that there was âsome flirtatious energyâ between them but emphasized it was all in good fun.
â[Sia] has expressed that she finds him intriguing,â a second source confirmed. âShe appreciates his sense of humor and looks. They enjoy light-hearted interactions, but nothing serious is transpiring.â
While Sia has refrained from publicly discussing her separation from Bernard, she did share insights in October 2023 about the impact of her 2016 divorce from her first husband, documentary filmmaker Erik Anders Lang, stating it left her in a âdeep emotional struggle.â (Sia and Lang were wed from 2014 to 2016.)

âThat was an incredibly dark period where I couldnât leave my bed for three years due to severe depression,â Sia recounted in a discussion with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1. âDuring this time, I was not active creatively.â
She shared that she paused her music writing but eventually credited the creation of âsmall piecesâ for her 2021 album, Music, with helping her emerge from that dark phase.
âAs it turned out, we ended up with sufficient quality songs for an album,â she reflected. âI depend on my management to advise me when weâve gathered enough excellent tracks because I have a sense of when one stands out, but they let me know when weâve reached 11 or 12 quality ones.â
