Sky Inks Multi-Year Disney+ Distribution Deal, Offers Streaming Bundle

Sky and Disney have recently announced a groundbreaking multi-year distribution deal that will bring Disney+ to Sky customers in the U.K. and Ireland at no additional cost. This partnership will also introduce a streaming bundle that includes HBO Max, Netflix, and Hayu, providing subscribers with a comprehensive entertainment package.

One of the key highlights of the agreement is the launch of a dedicated Disney+ Cinema linear channel on Sky’s platform. Starting from March 2026, Sky TV subscribers will have access to Disney+ (standard with ads tier) as part of their existing subscriptions, resulting in a significant cost saving of £5.99 per month. Additionally, the integration of the Disney+ app with Sky’s operating system will enhance the user experience by promoting Disney+ shows alongside Sky content on various platforms.

Customers can easily activate Disney+ through Sky Q, Sky Glass, and Sky Stream devices, and those who transfer their Disney+ accounts to watch via Sky will also benefit from the cost-saving initiative. In addition to the Disney+ offering, Sky will introduce a bundled package that includes Disney+, HBO Max, Netflix, and Hayu, starting at £24 per month for a two-year fixed-term contract.

Sophia Ahmad, Chief Consumer Officer at Sky, expressed her excitement about the deal, emphasizing the simplified choice and enhanced product integration it offers to customers. Karl Holmes, Disney+ General Manager in EMEA, highlighted the opportunity to reach millions of Sky customers who have not yet subscribed to Disney+, projecting a significant increase in Disney+’s reach in the U.K. and Ireland.

While the U.K. has been a strong market for Disney+ through direct-to-consumer subscriptions, the partnership with Sky represents a substantial growth opportunity. Holmes noted that the agreement with Sky is unique in its scale and ambition, setting it apart from other partnerships in the region. The deal aims to cater to customers who prefer a bundled subscription model, complementing Disney+’s existing growth strategy.

Although the exact term of the agreement was not disclosed, both parties confirmed that it spans multiple years, highlighting the long-term commitment to the partnership. It is important to note that the deal does not cover co-productions or the distribution of Disney+ content outside of the streaming platform and linear Disney+ Cinema channel.

Overall, the collaboration between Sky and Disney marks a significant milestone in the entertainment industry, offering customers a seamless and cost-effective way to access a wide range of popular content. The integration of Disney+ into Sky’s platform underscores the ongoing evolution of streaming services and the importance of strategic partnerships in delivering enhanced value to consumers.
