Spencer Pratt, known for his reality TV career, is now pursuing a political role as he responds to criticism from Hannah Einbinder, star of Hacks, regarding his growing mayoral campaign.
Pratt, 42, addressed Einbinder’s comments on Friday, May 29, through X, stating, âShe speaks from a red carpet, with armed security, shielded from the daily struggles faced by Angelenos and their children.â He added, âWhile she may not feel the effects of Karen [Bass] and Nithyaâs [Raman] shortcomings, the rest of us, who are not part of her elite circle, desire change.â
Earlier that day, Einbinder, 31, criticized Prattâs mayoral bid at the Critics Choice Associationâs Celebration of LGBTQ+ Cinema & Television in Los Angeles.
Speaking with Variety‘s Marc Malkin on the red carpet, she remarked, âThere is significant wealth in this city, and many who claim to be Democrats or left-leaning are primarily driven by money, leading them to support figures like Spencer Pratt, who has Donald Trumpâs endorsement. Itâs vital to oppose this trend.â
Einbinder also noted, âThe situation is complex. No candidate is perfect. Iâve decided to support Nithya, and thatâs what weâre doing, girls!â

The former star of The Hills announced his candidacy for Los Angeles mayor against the Democratic incumbent, Mayor Bass, and several other contenders, including Raman and Adam Miller, on the anniversary of the devastating L.A. wildfires that destroyed his home. Although Pratt is a registered Republican with numerous connections to conservative and MAGA media, he claims to be running as an âindependent community advocate.â
During a May 28 appearance on Fox Newsâ Fox & Friends, Pratt stated, âI resonate with people nationally and internationally because I focus solely on the truth. Iâm about basic issues, not national politics or parties. I highlight how tax money is misused, going to drug addicts for needles and tourniquets, while theyâre sold drugs to die on our streets. I aim to provide mandatory medical treatment to help them recover from addictions.â
He further emphasized, âPeople desire an outsider who speaks only the facts. The truth.â
When Malkin of Variety mentioned to Einbinder that some people suggested she should run for office, she dismissed the idea, aligning with Lisa Rinnaâs views on celebrities entering politics.
Einbinder quipped, âNeither you nor I should run for office. Iâm with Lisa Rinna. I stand with Lisa Rinna.â
At the American Music Awards held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Monday, May 25, Rinna criticized Prattâs campaign, asserting that no reality TV star should enter politics.
âNot a reality star,â she declared, referencing President Donald Trump, another reality TV personality who transitioned to politics. âI love him [Pratt], but weâve been down that road. Weâre not doing it again. Listen, Iâm a reality person. I wouldnât want myself as mayor. Letâs face it, I love him [Pratt]. Heâs amazing. But weâve already been there.â
