Sony Music Labels has officially entered the world of animated character content by acquiring the full rights to “Spookiz,” a popular non-verbal animation series with a massive following. With over 6.1 million YouTube subscribers and 3.1 billion total views, “Spookiz” has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide.

This acquisition marks a strategic shift for Sony Music Labels, known primarily for its recording business. The series follows five lovable monsters who come to life in an elementary school at night. From Cula, the boastful Dracula, to Frankie, the kindhearted Frankenstein, each character brings a unique charm to the show.

“Spookiz” has gained popularity in regions like the U.S., Asia, Latin America, and Europe, appealing to a diverse audience. Sony Music Labels plans to leverage its music industry expertise to create new content for “Spookiz,” incorporating musical elements to attract a wider age demographic. The company will produce new animations, launch a new season, and introduce new characters to the series.

The acquisition includes a partnership with Keyring Co., Ltd., the South Korea-based animation studio behind “Spookiz.” Known for their creativity and production capabilities, Keyring Co., Ltd. will collaborate with Sony Music Labels to enhance the series and expand its global reach.

Sony Music Labels aims to market “Spookiz” in innovative ways, creating original content that resonates with audiences worldwide. The company plans to develop the animated characters similar to how they nurture musical artists, engaging in activities that combine animation, music, and other mediums.

Representative director and president Manabu Tsujino expressed excitement about the new venture, stating, “Sony Music Labels is embarking on a new challenge with the acquisition of ‘Spookiz.’ We aim to transform these monsters into stars, leveraging our expertise in the music business and collaborating with creators and partners.”
