Tax Credit Standoff

The government remains in shutdown due to disagreements between Republicans and Democrats on extending the enhanced premium tax credits from the Affordable Care Act. Originally implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic, these extensions are set through 2025. The enhanced credits have two primary benefits: increased financial support for existing recipients and broadened eligibility for higher-income individuals.
