Stowaway found dead in landing gear of American Airlines plane

Authorities reported that a stowaway was found deceased in the landing gear compartment of an American Airlines flight headed to North Carolina.

The body, which has not yet been identified, was discovered in the main landing gear compartment of the aircraft shortly after it arrived at Charlotte Douglas International Airport from Europe around 9 a.m. on Sunday, as stated by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

According to police, the aircraft was in the process of a maintenance check when the stowaway was located.

The individual was pronounced dead by the officers who responded to the scene.

The death is now being investigated by detectives from the homicide unit within the police department.

American Airlines has stated, “We are collaborating with law enforcement on this matter,” in a reply to The Post.

The situation is currently under investigation.
