A suspect who fled from Arapahoe County deputies and barricaded himself inside a townhome in Aurora has been arrested, ending a nearly four-hour standoff on Saturday.

The incident began at 7:24 a.m. when deputies attempted to stop a suspected stolen vehicle near Parker Road and Mississippi Avenue. The vehicle fled and crashed, leading to the arrest of a female passenger. The male driver then ran into the Raintree East townhome complex, where he allegedly broke into a residence and barricaded himself by 9 a.m.

Aurora police spokesperson Sydney Edwards instructed residents near the townhome on East Evans Avenue to shelter in place during the standoff.

No injuries were reported, and police confirmed the suspect’s arrest shortly before 1 p.m. Road closures at East Jewell Avenue and South Havana Street, as well as Jewell and South Dayton Street, remained in place for scene clearance.

This story is developing and will be updated as necessary.
