A manhunt is currently underway in Florida for a suspect named Theodric Collins, who managed to escape from custody after complaining of chest pains and fleeing in a Maserati. Collins, 36, was initially apprehended by US Customs and Border Patrol at the Port of Miami due to multiple out-of-state warrants, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.
After complaining of chest pains, Collins was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for evaluation. However, he managed to escape from an officer who was transporting him to the department’s Warrants Bureau. Despite still being handcuffed, Collins fled to a waiting silver Maserati with an Alabama license plate, which was last seen by a license plate reader in Jupiter, Florida.
Described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a medium build, Collins has a history of previous arrests. In Mississippi, he was arrested for felony shoplifting, reckless driving, fleeing from police, and property theft. Additionally, in 2023, he was reportedly arrested in Alabama after leading police on a high-speed chase.
Authorities have not disclosed further details about the specific warrants for Collins. The search for him continues, with law enforcement agencies working to locate and apprehend him. The escape of a handcuffed suspect from custody raises concerns about the security protocols in place and highlights the need for enhanced measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
