Chicago Police Seek Suspect in Shooting of 14-Year-Old Boy in Loop
Chicago police are on the lookout for a suspect believed to be responsible for shooting a 14-year-old boy in the Loop earlier this month. Surveillance images have been released by the authorities in hopes of identifying the individual.
The incident took place on February 16 around 8:35 p.m. in the first block of East Washington Street, right in the heart of downtown Chicago. Police had already been deployed to the area that evening due to a large gathering, and when a 911 caller reported teenagers fighting near Washington and Madison streets, officers were on high alert. Minutes later, shots were fired.
The wounded boy was found at the corner of Washington and Wabash Avenue. According to the Chicago Police Department, the boy was shot in the left foot while standing on East Washington Street. Two shell casings were recovered at the scene, and the victim was taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital in fair condition.
During the incident, at least one other juvenile was arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer. The suspect seen in the surveillance images is believed to have been involved in discharging a firearm that resulted in an innocent bystander being shot in the foot.
The suspect is described as a Black individual between the ages of 14 and 16, standing between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a thin build. The suspect was reportedly wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, a black backpack, and Air Jordan 12 Retro Black University Gold basketball shoes.
