Tatsuya Tamada, the visionary designer behind Tamme brand, has always been fascinated by the concept of power. His latest collection reflects his deep-rooted obsession with uniforms, a theme that has been prevalent throughout his design career. Growing up with a father who was a policeman, Tamada was captivated by the authority and discipline exuded by his dad’s uniform. This early influence has shaped his design aesthetic, drawing inspiration from military and formal wear to create a unique and edgy style.

During a recent showroom walkthrough in Tokyo, Tamada expressed his desire to showcase the essence of the Tamme brand through his latest collection. Drawing from his experience at Sacai, he skillfully combines military elements with everyday wear, creating a collection that is both subversive and wearable. From ribbed cricket sweaters with contrasting cable knit details to greige cargo jackets lined with safety-orange accents, each piece exudes a rebellious yet sophisticated vibe.

One standout piece from the collection is a reinterpretation of Japanese police boots, featuring geometric soles and silver front zips in collaboration with Kids Love Gaite. This collaboration adds a touch of whimsy to the otherwise utilitarian footwear, showcasing Tamada’s knack for blending traditional elements with contemporary flair. The collection also includes grungy checked shirts paired with loose neckties, as well as tailored pieces with bold peak lapels and billowy trousers that exude a hint of disco glam.

Tamada’s philosophy is centered around the idea of breaking down traditional uniforms and creating individuality through clothing. Each piece in his collection is designed to be worn and used freely, allowing the wearer to express their own unique style. In a time where the concept of uniform and authority is being challenged, Tamada’s designs offer a fresh perspective on traditional attire, blending rebellious spirit with sartorial elegance.

As Tamada continues to expand the Tamme universe, his designs remain convincing and thoughtful, offering a new take on classic silhouettes. While clothes can only take you so far, Tamada’s vision for the brand is to empower individuals to embrace their own sense of style and identity. With a keen eye for detail and a bold approach to design, Tamada is carving out a niche for himself in the fashion world, one uniform-inspired piece at a time.
