Justin Baldoni’s crisis management team recently made headlines for mentioning Taylor Swift in their alleged plan to take down Blake Lively. Lively, 37, filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Baldoni, 40, citing a “hostile work environment” and “severe emotional distress.”
According to exhibits attached to the complaint, a crisis management expert working for Baldoni wrote in an email on August 6, “we have seen the most innocuous issues turn giant due to socials or the hugest crises have no effect on social whatsoever. You just cannot tell at this stage. But, BL does have some of the same TS fanbase so we will be taking it extremely seriously.”
Additionally, a “scenario planning” document from Baldoni’s side mentioned exploring planting stories about the weaponization of feminism and how people like Taylor Swift have been accused of using these tactics to ‘bully’ into getting what they want. Lively and Swift, 35, have a long-standing friendship that has been documented over the years.
In response to the lawsuit, Us Weekly reached out to Lively’s rep for comment and also reached out to Swift’s rep for their input on the matter.
Baldoni also appeared to use a social media post of Hailey Bieber as an example in an astroturfing plan against Lively. Text exchanges reviewed in a legal complaint showed Baldoni had sent a screenshot of a thread that unpacked “Hailey Bieber’s history of bullying women,” indicating that it could be used in their plan.
Lively’s complaint alleges that millions of people, including reporters and influencers, were unwitting consumers of a crisis PR, astroturfing, and digital retaliation campaign orchestrated by Baldoni against her.
Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, addressed Lively’s allegations, calling them “completely false, outrageous, and intentionally salacious.” He accused Lively of filing the lawsuit to fix her negative reputation and rehash a narrative regarding the production of the film. Freedman also claimed that Lively made multiple demands and threats during filming, leading to the demise of the film’s release.
In a statement to The New York Times, Lively expressed hope that her legal action would expose the retaliatory tactics used to harm individuals who speak up about misconduct and protect others who may be targeted. She denied spreading negative information about Baldoni.
The ongoing legal battle between Lively and Baldoni continues to unfold, shedding light on the complexities of navigating workplace dynamics and the power dynamics at play in the entertainment industry. The world of fashion is constantly evolving, with new trends and styles emerging every season. From bold prints to minimalist designs, there is something for everyone in the ever-changing world of fashion. One trend that has been gaining popularity in recent years is sustainable fashion.
Sustainable fashion is a movement that aims to reduce the environmental impact of the fashion industry by promoting environmentally friendly practices and materials. This includes using organic and recycled materials, reducing waste in the production process, and promoting ethical labor practices.
One of the key components of sustainable fashion is the use of eco-friendly materials. This includes organic cotton, which is grown without the use of harmful pesticides and fertilizers, as well as recycled fabrics such as polyester made from recycled plastic bottles. These materials not only have a lower impact on the environment but also tend to be of higher quality and more durable than conventional materials.
In addition to using eco-friendly materials, sustainable fashion also focuses on reducing waste in the production process. This can include using technology to optimize production processes, such as 3D printing and digital pattern making, to minimize fabric waste. It can also involve designing garments that are meant to last, rather than following fast fashion trends that result in clothes being discarded after only a few wears.
Another important aspect of sustainable fashion is promoting ethical labor practices. This means ensuring that workers in the fashion industry are paid fair wages, have safe working conditions, and are not exploited in any way. Many sustainable fashion brands are transparent about their supply chain and production processes, allowing consumers to make informed choices about the clothes they buy.
Overall, sustainable fashion is about more than just looking good – it’s about making a positive impact on the world around us. By supporting brands that prioritize sustainability and ethical practices, we can help create a more environmentally friendly and socially responsible fashion industry. So next time you’re looking to update your wardrobe, consider choosing sustainable fashion – you’ll not only look good, but feel good knowing that you’re making a difference.
