A highly anticipated film from acclaimed director Ari Aster, known for his mind-bending films like “Hereditary” and “Midsommar,” is set to blend dark comedy with a contemporary western in a pandemic-era setting. The movie stars Joaquin Phoenix as an ambitious sheriff in a small town in New Mexico who defies public health restrictions and finds himself in a heated election battle with the incumbent mayor, played by Pedro Pascal, during the first 2020 lockdown. With a talented ensemble including Emma Stone, Austin Butler, and Micheal Ward, this film promises to be a must-watch with Aster’s signature blend of surreal humor and horror.

Another exciting entry at Cannes is Spike Lee’s upcoming thriller, a reimagining of the 1963 film “High and Low” by Akira Kurosawa. Denzel Washington takes on the lead role of a New York music mogul facing a life-changing decision, supported by a diverse cast including Jeffrey Wright, Ice Spice, and A$AP Rocky.

In the comedy “Splitsville,” Adria Arjona plays a woman who asks for a divorce from her husband, played by Kyle Marvin, leading him to seek solace from his friends, portrayed by Dakota Johnson and Michael Angelo Covino. The revelation of an open marriage shakes up the dynamics of their relationships, with Nicholas Braun and O-T Fagbenle adding to the mix in what promises to be a captivating exploration of modern relationships.

Richard Linklater’s latest project offers a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Jean-Luc Godard’s iconic film “Breathless” and the French New Wave movement it inspired. With Guillaume Marbeck as Godard, Zoey Deutch as Jean Seberg, and Aubry Dullin as Jean-Paul Belmondo, this film is sure to delight fans of the classic era of French cinema.

These diverse and intriguing films are just a taste of the exciting lineup at Cannes, offering a blend of genres and styles to captivate audiences and showcase the talent of some of the industry’s most innovative filmmakers.
