The Christmas season is in full swing in the charming town of Colmar, France. From now until December 29th, visitors can explore six different markets scattered around the Old Town. These markets include Place des Dominicains, Place Jeanne d’Arc, Place de l’Ancienne Douanne, Koïfhus, Place des Six Montagnes Noires, and Square de la Montagne Verte. Each market has its own unique theme and offerings, ranging from arts and crafts to traditional Alsatian village setups. The Marché Gourmand at Square de la Montagne Verte is a must-visit for foodies, serving up delicious dishes like creamy raclette, rich tartiflette, and mulled wine.

For those looking to extend their stay in Colmar, the Relais & Châteaux La Maison Des Têtes is a convenient option, located just a 3-minute walk from the main market at Place des Dominicains.

Meanwhile, in Nuremberg, Germany, the historic Hauptmarkt is bustling with activity until December 24th. Known as the Nuremberg Christmas market or “Christkindlesmarkt,” this market dates back to the 17th century and is one of the oldest in Europe. The city is transformed into a winter wonderland with candy cane-striped cloth tents filled with glass tree baubles, gingerbread treats, and wooden handicrafts. Families with children will especially enjoy the children’s Christmas market on Hans-Sachs-Platz, featuring a merry-go-round and a bake house where kids can get hands-on with dough rolling.

Both Colmar and Nuremberg offer visitors a magical holiday experience with their festive markets, delicious treats, and unique shopping opportunities. Whether you choose to wander the cobblestone streets of Colmar or explore the historic market squares of Nuremberg, you’re sure to be enchanted by the holiday spirit in these European destinations.
