The Frankie Shop: Fall Collection Review

There has been a lot of talk this season about designers opting for more mainstream appeal over taking creative risks. While this may not push the fashion boundaries significantly, it is often a smarter move in uncertain times. Gaëlle Drevet, the founder and creative director of The Frankie Shop, expressed this sentiment after unveiling the label’s fall collection. The brand has never been known for its avant-garde style, but instead focuses on making simple pieces more special.

This season, The Frankie Shop has updated many of its classic menswear-inspired pieces with more structured silhouettes. For example, a sharp-shoulder blazer with a rounded curve at the sleeve seam adds a modern touch. The collection features rich textures such as fur (both faux and real shearling), cashmere, leather, and angora wool, paired with vibrant pops of color like teal, icy blue, chartreuse, and bright red. Drevet has emphasized the brand’s offering of complete wardrobe-building pieces this time, including a wider selection of knitwear.

Although dresses are a rarity in The Frankie Shop’s collections, Drevet’s intuitive design approach shines through. Pieces in a deep forest green hue, like a faux-fur stole and a leather pencil skirt, showcase her love for this color. A collarless blazer in gray wool has been tailored closer to the body for a more refined look, and can be styled as a set with a matching midi pencil skirt or dressed down with casual pieces.

In a clever twist, traditional suiting materials have been used to create tracksuits, while jacket collars feature contrasting colors on the inside. The brand’s signature leather blouson jackets and outerwear offerings remain popular, with standout pieces including a mid-length alabaster coat in curly shearling and a long buttery yellow robe coat in faux fur. Drevet has also reintroduced some well-selling outerwear pieces from past collections, including classic fur coats, proving her belief in giving customers what they want.
