The Melting Pot, a beloved US fondue restaurant franchise, has undergone a significant leadership change with the appointment of John Crawford as its new CEO. Crawford will be taking over from Bob Johnston, one of the founding members of the company, who will transition into the role of chairman of the board to support the brand’s strategic direction.

Crawford, who joined The Melting Pot in March 2020, brings with him a wealth of experience from his previous leadership roles at Ruth’s Chris Steak House and Bennigan’s. His focus on franchise support and brand transformation has already had a positive impact on the company’s growth.

In addition to the appointment of Crawford, The Melting Pot has also made several other executive promotions. Randy Barnett has been named chief technology officer, Mike Mobley as chief talent officer, and Matt Zurcher as vice-president of franchise and restaurant operations. Dan Stone has taken on the role of chief business officer, Ana Malmqvist as chief brand officer, and Scott Pierce remains as chief financial officer.

The company has also announced its expansion into new markets with franchise agreements in North Dallas, Texas, and Syracuse, New York. The North Dallas location will be led by new franchisees Dan and Tracie Greene, while the Syracuse development is headed by an existing franchisee group. These expansions align with The Melting Pot’s 50th anniversary, celebrated with special menu offerings including the introduction of the Grand Reserve Cheese Fondue.

To support further growth, The Melting Pot will be launching a golden anniversary incentive on 1 July 2025. The first five new-construction franchise agreements signed will receive a 50% discount on the initial franchise fee, available until 31 March 2026 or until five agreements are signed. The brand is actively seeking franchisees to expand in key markets such as Texas, Florida, Michigan, California, and Tennessee.
