Time for a Change: Starmer’s Leadership Under Scrutiny

As the Labour Party grapples with its ambitions amid the paradoxically titled theme ‘Renew Britain,’ Prime Minister Keir Starmer finds himself navigating an increasingly turbulent political landscape. After all, a call for renewal might imply a change in leadership. How can a government that holds power genuinely call for revival without facing the music?

Yet, the spotlight has shifted away from Starmer’s controversial push for a Digital ID, with more pressing matters capturing public attention.

According to an Ipsos poll released just yesterday, Starmer has become the most unpopular Prime Minister in the entire history of the United Kingdom, while Chancellor Rachel Reeves mirrors this dismal trend as the least favored chancellor ever.

The Telegraph has reported:

“This finding is a significant setback for Sir Keir just before the Labour Party conference in Liverpool on Sunday.”

“He aims to persuade the party that he is the leader they need heading into the next general election, particularly with the looming challenge from Mayor Andy Burnham of Greater Manchester.”

New data from Ipsos reveals that Prime Minister Keir Starmer has reached the lowest approval ratings in UK history dating back to 1977. A staggering 79% of Britons express dissatisfaction with his leadership, while only 13% remain satisfied. pic.twitter.com/i41fYpydLK

“This survey of more than 1,100 adults was conducted in the week leading up to September 17, after the resignations of Angela Rayner and Lord Mandelson, but before Burnham revealed that MPs are urging him to challenge for the Labour leadership.”

“The Labour party are just like the Tories, but with more aggressive steroids,” criticizes a commentator regarding the government’s performance over the last 14 months, emphasizing that the economy is shrinking, inflation is soaring, and growth is stagnant. pic.twitter.com/zDLBlsTeb2

Previously, the records for the lowest approval ratings were held by Conservative leaders Rishi Sunak in April 2024 and Sir John Major in August 1994, both achieving a net rating of minus 59.

“With only 13% of citizens satisfied with Sir Keir and a staggering 79% dissatisfied, his net satisfaction rating stands at minus 66.”

“When asked who would be the most capable Prime Minister, 25% chose Mr. Farage, 19% backed Sir Keir, 9% leaned towards Tory leader Kemi Badenoch, while 31% expressed no preference at all.”
