Hawaiian submission grappling sensation Teshya Noelani Alo is gearing up for a highly anticipated rematch with Helena Crevar at ONE Fight Night 39 on Jan. 23 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The 28-year-old is determined to showcase a much-improved skill set this time around after her initial encounter with Crevar ended in a loss due to a penalty.

Alo, who transitioned from wrestling and judo to jiu-jitsu, admits that she was still adjusting to the nuances of the sport during her first bout with Crevar. However, she now believes that she is better equipped to take on the talented Las Vegas native on the global stage of ONE Championship.

In a recent interview with Jits Magazine, Alo reflected on her evolution as a grappler since her last meeting with Crevar. She mentioned, “It took me about three years to really understand the leg game and jiu-jitsu in general. This last year, things slowly started to make sense for me.”

Prime Video subscribers in North America will have the opportunity to watch ONE Fight Night 39 live in U.S. primetime, where Alo is expected to showcase her improved skills and give Crevar a run for her money.

Alo is confident that Crevar will be facing a completely different opponent this time around. She expressed her excitement to demonstrate her growth as a grappler and acknowledged that Crevar has also made significant strides in her own game over the years.

“I feel like it’s way too long ago. We both should be completely different. I mean, two years is a long time. I had no idea how to do a heel hook or straight ankle lock at that time. So yeah, it’s fun to look back at, but we’re both completely different grapplers now,” Alo stated in the interview.

With her lethal stand-up game still intact, Alo now brings a more diverse skill set to the table, setting the stage for an intriguing showdown with the young BJJ prodigy. Fans can expect a thrilling and competitive rematch between Alo and Crevar at ONE Fight Night 39.

As the date of the rematch draws near, all eyes will be on Alo as she aims to prove that she has evolved into a formidable force in the world of submission grappling. Be sure to catch the action-packed event live on Prime Video and witness Alo’s transformation in the ring.
