Tragic Accident: Toddler Struck and Killed by Pickup Truck in Long Island Driveway
A heartbreaking incident unfolded in a Long Island driveway on Saturday afternoon, as a two-year-old toddler was hit and killed by a pickup truck, according to Suffolk County police.
The young child was struck by a Ram 1500 truck just before 1 p.m. in the family’s driveway in Mount Sinai, as reported by local outlet Greater Long Island.
While the police have not disclosed the child’s identity, age, or gender, the local outlet identified the victim as a young boy residing at the address. Tragically, the boy succumbed to his injuries after being transported to Stony Brook University Hospital.
The child’s parents, a 44-year-old mother and 43-year-old father, were present at the scene when first responders arrived, according to authorities.
The circumstances surrounding the tragic incident, including who was driving the truck and the sequence of events leading to the accident, remain unclear at this time.
Following the incident, the police cordoned off a significant portion of the street where the family’s home is situated. Patrol cars and crime scene vans were visible outside the two-story residence, creating a somber atmosphere in the typically serene neighborhood.

Law enforcement officers focused their attention on a white Dodge Ram parked in the driveway, with the rear of the truck facing the house. Investigators meticulously examined the exterior of the vehicle in an effort to piece together the details of the tragic event.
By late afternoon, a Suffolk police flatbed arrived at the scene to transport the truck away for further examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
As authorities continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the toddler’s untimely death, the community mourns the loss of a young life and grapples with the profound impact of this devastating incident.
